William Vernon SimpsonNovember 19, 2016
William Vernon Simpson, 88, went to his heavenly home November 19, 2016 to a joyous reunion with his wife of 69 years who preceded him in death by only 2 weeks. William was born on May 17, 1928 to the late Charles Brutus Simpson and Leta Lindsay.
He was a devoted husband and father but he was also a true self-made man. His father died when Vernon was only 2 years old. And at age 13, he quit school to help support his mother and family.
After working at Interstate Electric for several years, he borrowed a truck to start Simpson Electric Company in 1954. Simpson Electric Company is a family owned electrical contracting firm that specializes in residential construction in North Carolina and South Carolina. He operated on the principles of experience, quality, and results. Later he founded Simpson's Lighting, which has supplied lighting fixtures for thousands of homes in the Charlotte area.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maggie Mull, daughter, Barbara Gail Thomas; 2 bothers, Wilburn Simpson and Leroy Simpson and one sister, Kathleen Price.
He is survived by one son, Danny Simpson; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He will truly be missed.
A celebration of his life will be held on November 23 at 11 am in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. The visitation will begin at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Hospice Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
Arrangements under the direction of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, Charlotte, NC.
